INTRODUCTION

Welcome! As a Quilt Visions representative, I would like to introduce ourselves in an effort to garner your support for our organization.

Founded in 1985, Quilt Visions is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization, whose mission is the promotion and appreciation of the quilt as art through exhibitions and education. Our Visions exhibition is held bi-annually at the Oceanside Museum of Art.

In Apr 2007 the organization became one of the non-profit residents of the NTC Promenade. We have a gallery, central office, meeting room, and educational facility.

Our focus includes education as one of our primary goals. We plan to include educational opportunities in fiber arts for students in San Diego along with an outreach program to include lower income adults in the NTC area. Fiber arts and quilts are used to illustrate and utilize the concepts of higher mathematics, history, cultural studies, and science.

A noted architect, Robert Leathers, has donated his time and expertise in the construction and renovation of public spaces including Visions Art Quilt Gallery at NTC Promenade. The Community Build, which began February 26, 2007, was an effort of volunteers who traveled from throughout the US to put their personal stamp on the new gallery. Local volunteers provided housing, meals, and child care for those who participated in the gallery building. The Community Build was exciting and illustrates the impact of community service.
